Manthore's Story & Protocol

Typical ED story here except I’ve been dealing with this since my early twenties. I’ve been searching for answers for nearly that long, as well. I’m now 40, in great shape—I’m a runner and martial artist—but things are only getting worse down there. I’m also on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and have been for nearly two years. My T-level is around 800. For years, I was able to get by on generic Viagra’s from India but it started taking more and more and now even 100 mg doesn’t always do the trick. Where does it go from here?

Since this issue has been effecting me for so long, I’m wondering if I’ve been dealing with venous leak my whole life? I’m self-employed and only have catastrophic health insurance (hence the generic Viagra from India) so I am a little worried I that I wouldn’t be able to afford the test to diagnose the condition, but it would be nice to know. I would appreciate any insight on the cost of this.

Although my wife is aware that I take Viagra, she thinks it’s more of an as-needed basis. I’ve never really had the courage to tell her it’s needed every time. About a week and half ago, after taking 100 mg of Viagra, she and I started to fool around. Five-minutes in and nothing is happening. Internally, I’m starting to panic. She’s “petting” my cock but I need to switch into high gear by taking matters into my own hands. At the same time, I continue to stimulate her manually and she is playing the part well. No complaints about her enthusiasm. I was finally able to achieve a mediocre erection but, by that point, the whole enterprise just felt pathetic. I just wanted to finish up as quickly as possible and go wallow in shame. When it was done, my wife looked at me and said, “Can’t you just get hard? Why do you basically have to jerk off for us to have sex.” So embarrassing. I didn’t know what to say. I just felt hollow.

I had heard about Gainswave therapy but it sounded like a gimmick. However, after that last soul-sucking session, I decided all options were on the table so I looked it up. A day later, I found the only provider in my area and I was in her office for a consultation. That turned out to be another lesson in humility: telling a very attractive 35-year blonde doctor that your dick doesn’t work and you’re so desperate for help that you want her to zap it. Swallow your pride, I told myself and push forward. By the end I was ready to sign-up, even with the $3,000 price tag for just six treatments. At that point, I’m all in and had been lead to believe that we could get going that same day. Then she tells me that their machine is out of service and I can’t start until the following week.

While initially disappointed, thank god I didn’t blow $3k on something I soon found out I could do myself. Rash decisions seldom work out. I basically took the next day off work to read everything I could on shockwave machines, which is how I ended up here. I bought a "Shock Wave Therapy equipment Pain Relif ED Shockwave Physiotherapy Machine 7head" on eBay that afternoon and it should arrive this week. (I realize there are several misspellings in that title but since I don't have permission to post links yet, I wanted you to be able to search with copy and paste.) Cost me right around $1,000 and shipped from inside the States. I also bought some ultrasound gel off Amazon and I’ll pick up some condoms locally.

After reading everything I could find on the message board, here’s the protocol I settled on. All comments and/or suggestions welcome.

Protocol
Head - 15mm
Frequency - 15Hz
Energy - 90mJ
Total Shocks - 2,500 (500 each area)
Twice weekly (Ideally four days apart)/For three weeks
Rest for three weeks
Setup - Ultrasound gel and condom

I will do my best post updates as the experiment progresses. I want to extend a huge thanks to Dick for setting this up. If this works, you have my vote for most important page on the internet!

Down but not out. Onward.

Re: Manthore's Story & Protocol

Good luck manthore. My wife has a terrible habit of reminding me Mr. Happy doesn't always work. Once the thought get in your head its hard to shake. Making matters even worse. I didn't have too much trouble until I started having BPH problems. Then things went south due to meds used for shrinking prostate. Getting hard enough for sex is ust about impossible. My wife takes it in stride since we're both in our 60's. She still would like to have sex but its no longer a must have for her. I hate the fact that we're pretty much room mates at this point.

Re: Manthore's Story & Protocol

Good luck!

My first round I also used 90mJ, but slightly fewer shocks and the largest - 41mm diameter applicator.  It worked out well.  However, 90mJ is pushing the upper limit, imo, even with the larger applicator.  I lost some sensitivity following each session.  Then when I amped up the number of shocks in round 2, I was impotent for a month.

Fortunately, things have improved.  But in round 3 I've backed down to 30mJ.  With 2400 shocks, still with the large applicator, the day after, the best way to describe it is the treatment felt thorough - it was plenty.

Using 90mJ with a smaller applicator will give you harder hits than I got.  SW is not like training - train harder, get better result.  From my experience so far, it's more like cooking.  Bake a pie at 350 degrees F for half an hour and you get dessert.  Bake a pie at 700 degrees F for fifteen minutes and you get a cinder.

Re: Manthore's Story & Protocol

Thanks Yobro for suggesting the energy reduction, as well as suggesting the larger applicator. Based on your feedback, as well as bonerboy’s in his "Delayed Success Story,” I’m going to dial the energy back to 70 mJ and use the largest applicator I have, which is about 35 mm. I’m also going to dial back the frequency to 10 HZ. I’m not sure how critical the frequency is to the effectiveness so any insight would be appreciated.

This is day one. Once I complete the first three-week cycle, I’ll post an update in the Experience Forum.

Note: I got locked out of my original account and had to create this new one.

Re: Manthore's Story & Protocol

Board members are all over the place with frequency settings.  From what I've read, good results have been achieved with both high and low frequencies.  So it seems unlikely that frequency is a critical setting.

The clinical studies mostly have used low frequencies - 2Hz most commonly due to following the protocol of the very first study (Vardi).

My Chinese machine skips shocks when the frequency is dialed up, so I use 4Hz.

On T-levels: You've probably seen reports like this one before, but just in case:
