Shockwave for Erectile Dysfunction

More and more men are having shockwave therapy to fix their erectile dysfunction, either at a clinic or self-administered. This is a forum to for men to discuss what experiences they have had, what treatment they used, and what results they obtained.  The goal is to get men to share their ideas, trials, successes and failures in order to help other men working to improve their mojo as well.

Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

I posted this originally on thundersplace.
This seems to hold less promise than shockwave, but still the studies don't seem so bad

Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

In a german book on google books i found the study cited downwards and a good explanation:
https://books.google.at/books?id=hf…20penis&f=false

I try to translate:

Electrodes Zero-line-symetrical trapezoid-form Impulses with a
rising-time of 33%
Impuls- length of time of 1-50 milliseconds
Impuls-pauses of 0.5 – 2 seconds
Frequency-Range 0.5-2 Herz
Amperage 12 – 25 mA
3-5x daily for 20minutes, for 6 months, Patient does it himself-> this settings all somehow gets adjusted if it’s uncomfortable for patient

http://i.imgur.com/SMgHdFw.png

 Studies (also from german book):

- 22 impotent patients
Before:
0% could get an erection, even if injected directly in penis with Prostaglandin E1 (Caverject, definitely stronger than Viagra it seems)

After 6 months:
14% had full erections even after stopping the treatment
7% had full erections as long as they did the treatment
14% now at least had erections with caverject
(which leaves 65% who this procedure did not help, but Viagra and Caverject didn’t even help them)
Study was in 1994

- 32 patients, 30-69 years old, impotent on average for 10 years (81% had physical reasons of being impotent)

Before:
44% got erect with Caverject
53% got only partially erect with Caverject
4% did not get erect with Caverject (1 guy)

After 6-21 months usage:
16% had normal erections again without help after treatment
19% had erections only as long as they did the daily sessions
9% while doing the sessions daily, now got erect with less Caverject than before
10% while doing the sessions daily, now got erect with Caverject
13% while doing the sessions daily, got subjectively more erect, but not enough for penetration
33% did not get more erect than before-

Conclusion:
I guess for guys who have only weak erections (well, I wish mine were stronger) this all sounds very good. Cause it seems even guys who are *totally impotent*, 66% got better erections.
On the other hand: 3 times daily for 20 Minutes? That’s not quick, but I surely could do it while I work on computer, so the actual time would be just one Minute.

They made a patent for an machine for electromyostimulation of penis for erectile dysfunction:
https://www.google.com/patents/EP0817660A1?cl=en

But:
I think this ‘machine’ is nothing special, it’s just a electronic-impulse giver (stimulation current machine) that is widely used for muscle activation. Just put this stuff on muscles and turn it on and you get electricity that activates your muscles, it’s Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

Ok, perhaps I am wrong and it is actually EMS Electrical muscle stimulation
http://www.thegoodbody.com/difference-tens-ems/Quote

TENS stimulates the nerves – the rationale being that the simulation keeps pain signals from reaching the brain; The relief of chronic and acute pain. Some examples include: Arthritis, Back pain..

EMS causes the muscles to contract – by mimicking the action potential that comes from the central nervous system; Muscle strengthening, Rehabilitation purposes, Preventing disuse muscle atrophy, Increasing local blood circulation, Relaxation of muscles, Cosmetic muscle toning

Anyway, it just needs a machine that can do Impuls- length of time of 1-50 milliseconds, Impuls-pauses of 0.5 – 2 seconds, Frequency-Range 0.5-2 Herz, Amperage 12 – 25 mA
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8528300

Quote:
Transcutaneous application of low-frequency electric current in the treatment of partially or temporarily denervated striated muscles is widely used to prevent or treat muscular atrophy. Due to the high regenerative capacity of smooth-muscle cells, this approach should be beneficial in the treatment of diseases with smooth-muscle degeneration due to partial denervation. Our study was done to evaluate the possible beneficial effect of transcutaneously applied low-frequency electric current on the corpus cavernosum penis in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Re: Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

Hi Dick Limppen, did you never think about trying this?
I mean the studies are exactly done with men that can only get hard with Caverject (or not even that), and about a third in one study then got erect without Caverject?!

I am thinking about buying this one:

PhalliMax 2
Electrostimulation appliance for the treatment of erection disorders
The therapy utilizes low frequency, completely harmless electric current by stimulation of the smooth muscle cells of the cavernous body.
There have been a number of very satisfactory trials on patients in the treatment of erectile disorder with electrostimulation.

The Phalli Max 2 serves the treatment of erectile dysfunction caused by either weakness of, or damage to, the muscle cells and muscles in the cavernous body system and/or in the pelvic floor region.

https://schwa-medico.de/download/info-phalli-max-therapie-en.pdf

https://youtu.be/NS2zRPDsc_4?t=212

I think there are 2 other machines, but this one is the priciest (200eur) and looks by far the most professional to me, and it's in it's second version.
(And this company has a wide range of medical electro products and seems like a very serious company https://schwa-medico.de/download/info-export-catalog-en.pdf - the others don't)

Hm. Perhaps it's just a machine to basically do better kegels.
Omg, they write:
Do it 2-3x daily for 30min, for 3 months
(There are 3 positions to electrify, i guess 30min for each)
And 'also possible while patient is asleep' ? Wtf let it run overnight? Don't think so - perhaps when i have a nurse and i take some nap that she does it

Ok, this is one other machine, that didn't look as good to me, but very interesting they write:
https://www.mtm-med.com/up/download/erecFit2.pdf

-> they basically say this helps against Venous Leaking!

This ones say daily for 3 months, but then only weekly to keep the status

Re: Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

I just want to share my recent experience as it could help many of you our there.
I read most of these patent applications and was very interested in the one that used 4 stick on electrodes, placed 2 on each side of the penile shaft.  These are connected so that each diagonally opposed set of electrodes are energized.  As I already have a Erostek 312 electrostim machine I connected it up and tried it for 30 minutes, slowly increasing the power settings as the stimulation grew more comfortable.
That night, I had the most powerful and hard erection that I have had for  years.  I tried it again a couple of days later and I again woke up with an erection reminiscent of when I was 20 years old.
This led to a 30 minute plus sexual encounter with my amazed wife.  And, I gave finally gave up, not my erection.  It was as hard as when I started.

This method is non-invasive and exercises the smooth muscles in your penis that are highly responsible for strong erections.  I read several papers on this and post mortem findings show that as we age, the bulk of our penile smooth muscles decreases, along with our abilities to have strong erections. So..it only stands to reason if we increase the strength and bulk of our penile smooth muscles, good things can happen.
As I've only used this on 2 treatment sessions, I'll keep  you posted.  In fact, as I write this, I'm using the electrostim machine on my penile smooth muscles.  And it is not painful, in fact it gives a pleasant sensation.
This could also work with any good TENS machine as the ErosTek is fairly expensive.

Re: Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

Thanks Bonerboy. Sounds interesting. Please keep the updates coming and good luck.

Do you have a link to the process you described?

I'm curious, how old are you?

Re: Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

Some more info about electromyostimulation

There are 3 positions in the manual (you are supposed to cycle them):
1. one stimulus-pad right above penis, one perrineum
2. one on side of penis, one on other side of penis
3. one on tip of penis (a sling), one right above penis

I started doing all three. Then tried to up the AMP setting (how much electricity), basically i was thinking i want to do progressive overload.
2 and 3 became quickly unbearable uncomfortable.
With 1 i could raise it higher and higher and felt 'muscle movement'
So i kinda just did 1 and left out 2 and 3 (where i didn't feel much).

The technician said it's not about progressive overload but just 'activating' these muscle signals again.
So perhaps i should add 2 and 3 again (or only one of them, they write in manual to alternate, i guess they attack very simillar area)

(People also use these electrostimulating for training their arms and breast, so, well)

when you say right above penis, do you mean on the area where you penis meets your abdomen?

This was 3 years ago and I tried it again yesterday and Voila! a first class 4/4 erection this morning with the best sex we've had in  years.  Here's the patent link

I'll try to keep you all up to date with my success.  Please respond if you try it.

Re: Electromyostimulation Therapy for better Erections

The electrostim "crossfire" treatment was good for about 3 days before things got limber again.
The next 2 days were nothing like the throbbing monster that woke me up on the first morning but they were a good 3/4 which was good for penetration and duration.  The 4th morning, penetration was ok but things quickly went soft.  Probably some psychological problems there; fear of failure, a self fulfilling prophecy.
Hopefully I'll be able to repeat it again soon.  My GF hasn't seen me "wired-up" yet and as we're both retired I have to wait for a private time.
Has anyone else tried this?
